Series: Texas State leads 33-25
ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington women's basketball travels to San Marcos to take on Texas State Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Strahan Coliseum.
The Bobcats made the journey with the Mavericks from the Southland Conference to the Western Athletic Conference last year and now to the Sun Belt Conference.
"We're trying to stick together and finish games," UT Arlington coach Krista Gerlich said. "We've been extremely close and it's getting a little rough as far as being able to finish a game because we're out playing everyone."
Texas State leads the series between the two schools 33-25, with each team winning on the road last season.
The Mavericks are coming off their fourth straight conference loss of the season and are 1-14 overall. Senior Briana Walker is leading the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Fellow senior Laila Suleiman is coming of a UTA career-high 25 points against UL-Lafayette and is averaging 11.3 points per contest.
The Bobcats are 5-9 overall and 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference after defeating the Mavericks' most recent opponent, UL-Lafayette, 65-53. Senior center Ashley Ezah is leading the Bobcats at 13.8 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game.
