ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington baseball begins the long march towards another title in 2014 on Friday with the season-opening UTA Invitational at Clay Gould Ballpark.
The Mavericks will face Stephen F. Austin on Friday at 3 p.m. to open their play in the tournament. UT Arlington will face Incarnate Word at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals are transitioning into NCAA Division I play this season. The Mavs will close out the UTA Invitational on Sunday at 3 p.m. against Oklahoma State.
"We are confident about our abilities this season, but this will be the toughest schedule we have played, maybe in school history," UT Arlington coach Darin Thomas said. "It's a goal to win a third championship in a row, but I think we need to take it series by series because there's a lot of things that go into winning. It's a long season and we play a lot of good people, but that is definitely something in the back of our mind."
