T&F: Vaughn snags Sun Belt honors again

ARLINGTON, Texas - For the second straight week, UT Arlington senior sprinter Clayton Vaughn has grabbed Sun Belt Conference male track athlete of the week honors following a vote by the league's coaches.

Vaughn won the 60 meters for the second time in as many meets on Saturday at the Varsity Apartments Invitational. His preliminary time in the event (6.66) is the best in the Sun Belt by .10 and bested his own mark set one week earlier.

He cruised to victory in the finals with a time of 6.68. The two-time indoor All-American currently ranks 15th in the nation in the 60 meters.

Vaughn and the Mavericks will return to action this weekend at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. It is the final regular season meet of the year for UTA, which will compete in its inaugural Sun Belt Championships on Feb. 24-25.
