CABO, Mexico - UT Arlington finished third and Zach Galliford tied for fourth Tuesday at the Cabo Del Sol Invitational.
The Mavericks were 3-over as a team with a 54-hole total of 867. Sun Belt Conference foes Georgia State (6-under 858) and Georgia Southern (3-under 861) took the top two spots in the 10-team tournament.
UT Arlington bounced back from disappointing eighth-place showing in the Sun Belt Preview last month. Four Mavericks placed in the top 20 in Cabo.
"The team is young but is learning fast and starting to believe in their potential," golf coach Stuart Deane said.
Galliford had his highest career finish at UTA after shooting an even-par 72 in the third round to move up a spot. The junior was 4-under for the tournament with rounds of 71 and 69 over the first two days.
Andrew Sirowy came in tied for 11th with a 2-under 70 to complete a steady climb throughout the tourney. Tanner Gore tied for 15th, Aaron Guanlao tied for 18th and Jake Greenspoon tied for 31st.
Josh Radcliff (T29), Harrison Moore (T36) and Jaret Brewer (57) competed as individuals.
The Mavericks return to the course Oct. 12 in the Donald Ross Intercollegiate in Morgantown, North Carolina.
