ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington's roster received a major boost on Monday as coach Krista Gerlich announced Kamy Cole will join the team for the 2015-16 season.

Cole, a standout freshman at TCU, is an experienced guard with an outside presence and blazing speed towards the basket.

"Kamy is a huge sign for us," Gerlich said. "She is that all-around scorer. She can shoot the three, she's got a great jumper, she can get to the rim and she is a competitor through and through. She has had a couple of stops along the way, but she's at a point now in her life to really commit to a program and to finish out her playing career."

The Brock, Texas native transferred from TCU after her 2012-13 season to SMU. After sitting out a season at SMU due to transfer rules, she left the program to join Lamar where she received her bachelor's degree. Cole did not play at Lamar and has two years of eligibility.

She averaged 9.8 points per game during her freshman season at TCU, scoring in double figures in 14 games. Cole was fourth in the Big 12 in points per game for a freshman and was second amongst freshmen with 51 steals.

In high school, she won four state titles with Brock High School and was a three-time state tournament MVP. During her senior season, she averaged 25.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. She was named a Texas McDonald's All-American and was the TABC 2A Player of the Year.

Cole also had star performances on the track as she would earn nine gold medals over her career, including the UIL Track and Field Championship in the girls 800 meters.

UTA begins its season on Nov. 13 at Baylor in the 2015 Women's Preseason National Invitation Tournament.
