ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington men's tennis faces No. 11-seed Oklahoma on May 13 at 4 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament.
The Mavericks, winners of a program-record 18 matches, return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006 after winning the Sun Belt Championship, their seventh conference title all-time.
"I didn't have Oklahoma on the radar, but we are excited and I like it," UT Arlington coach Diego Benitez said. "It is a team that we haven't played in awhile, so they don't know our weapons and we don't know their weapons. It is going to be an equal battle. It isn't too far of a trip for us, so we like it."
Oklahoma (15-10) leads the all-time series 7-3 and meets UTA for the first time since 2008. Also slotted in the Norman Regional are Tulsa and Oregon.
UTA is 0-4 all time in the NCAA Tournament, last appearing against No. 19 Texas A&M in the College Station Regional in 2006.
On the other side of the regional, Tulsa will square off with at-large selection Oregon on May 13 at 1 p.m. Tulsa enters the tournament at 17-14 and ranked No. 23 by the ITA. Oregon travels to Norman sporting a record of 18-7.
Friday's winners of each first round match will face off on May 14 at 1 p.m. with a place in the NCAA round of 16 in Tulsa on the line.
