BOONE, N.C. -
UTA wraps up its visit to the Carolinas when it takes on Appalachian State on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT on ESPN3.

The Lady Mavericks stretched their overall record to 14-4 and 7-1 in the Sun Belt with a 70-41 win over Coastal Carolina on Thursday and are seeking to sweep the season series over the Mountaineers after taking the Dec. 29 meeting.

The matchup also marks the conclusion of "Suits and Sneakers" week in the Sun Belt Conference. The SBC, in partnership with the American Cancer Society and Coaches vs. Cancer, is participating in "Suits and Sneakers" week on Jan. 26 and 28 to raise awareness and donations in support of Appalachian State women's basketball head coach Angel Elderkin's fight against endometrial cancer.

"Angel is one of my favorites," UTA coach Krista Gerlich said. "What she is doing as a coach at App state is one thing, but what she is doing and providing for her team and inspiration and life lessons just go way beyond basketball. For our girls and team to witness that and to watch the courage that she is facing this life battle head on and that our conference is rallying around her and supporting her, I love that about our conference. The conference is one of the best in the nation, and a big part of that is the coaches and the comradery that we have for each other. She is just an inspiration for all of us."

In addition, the conference has teamed up with Coaches vs. Cancer to launch its 2017 3-Point Challenge. Each school will compete to raise the most funds by pledging donations for every 3-point shot their team makes in the month of February, with all proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society to fund innovative research and patient services.

The winner of the conference's challenge will be crowned the Sun Belt 3-Point Champion and all participating schools are entered into the national contest for a chance to earn the national 3-Point College Champion honor.

Fans can pledge donations by visiting the Sun Belt Conference Women's Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Challenge website here. UTA's 3-Point Challenge site can be found at HERE.

For the Lady Mavericks, the team is coming off one of their best defensive performances of the season after allowing a Coastal Carolina season low 41 points. UTA turned CCU over 28 times, second most for UTA this season, and picked up scoring from 11 different Lady Mavs.

In the Dec. 29 meeting, Rebekah VanDijk led UTA with a game-high 20 points. Cierra Johnson and Aysia Evans joined in with double-figure efforts of 15 and 11 respectively.
