Postgame Notes
- UTA improved to 23-6 on the season and 13-3 in the Sun Belt. The Mavericks return to action Thursday in a 7 p.m. contest at ULM. UTA concludes its regular season on Saturday at Louisiana (7:15 p.m., ESPN3).
- Troy fell to 16-14 on the season and 8-8 in the Sun Belt. The Trojans host Arkansas State and Little Rock Thursday and Saturday in Trojan Arena.
- Troy's starting lineup consisted of forwards DeVon Walker, Juan Davis, Jr. and Jordon Varnado and guards Kevin Baker and Wesley Person.
- UTA's game against Troy marked the final regular season home game for four Maverick seniors: Jorge Bilbao, Drew Charles, Jalen Jones and Faith Pope. The quartet and their families were honored in a pregame ceremony and all four players were among the starting lineup.
- Senior forward Jorge Bilbao moved into a tie for 6th on the UTA list for career appearances with 120. He could move into a tie for fourth if he plays each of the remaining 3 regular-season games of the season.
- Senior Faith Pope, in his first start since mid-November, scored the game's first basket â€" a dunk off an assist from Jorge Bilbao at the 19:47 mark. He also registered a dunk on the team's third bucket of the game at the 17:00 mark, then scored on a 3-pointer just :39 seconds later. Pope scored 7 of the team's first 9 points.
- Drew Charles attempted 7 3-point field goals against Troy. He moved into 9th on the career list for 3-point attempts with 418, passing Anthony Durham (412, 1993-98).
- UTA shot 50 percent, compared to Troy's 41 percent in the game. The Mavericks moved to 20-0 when shooting a better percentage than its opponent this season.
- UTA outrebounded Troy 41-31. The Mavericks moved to 21-0 when outrebounding its opponent this season.
- Hervey scored 13 points in today's game against Troy. He has scored in double-figures in 22-straight appearances (He missed the Troy game at Trojan Arena on Jan. 14) and 25 times this season.
- Faith Pope scored 14 points against Troy, surpassing his season high (10 vs. St. Francis) and equaling his career best (14 vs. Fordham, 11/14/2015)
- UTA's over Troy clinched no worse than a tie for the Sun Belt Conference regular season title. UTA will be the No. 1 seed at next week's Sun Belt Championships in New Orleans and are guaranteed a postseason berth in the NIT (unless it earns an automatic or at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament).
- The victory over Troy handed UTA its first-ever undefeated home record. The Mavericks moved to 13-0 this season in College Park Center. The 13 wins is the second-highest home victory total in program history.
- UTA's win against Troy gave the Mavericks 23 wins on the season, the 3rd highest total in program history. UTA won 24 games in 2012 & 2016.
- The victory over Troy also extended UTA's home win streak to 16-straight games, dating back to Feb. 20, 2016 against ULM.
- UTAs win over Troy served as head coach Scott Cross' 200th career victory. In his 11th season as the head coach of the Mavericks, Cross moved to 200-145 as a head coach â€" all at UTA.
