WBB: Lady Mav hoops, who's next

April 17, 2018

ARLINGTON, Texas - Earning the nod of UT Arlington's second top signing class in the Sun Belt since 2014, this time by ASGR Basketball, future Lady Mavericks are showing why 2018-19 is a year in which the team is reloaded for another run at the league summit.

UTA's signing class, announced in November, is built with a level of championship winning mentality that has coach Krista Gerlich excited about what's to come, with all five signees making it into their respective state Final Four's or being named to the All-State squads. Even more exciting is the prospect of another top talent coming to College Park Center, as UTA's all-time leading rebounder Rebekah VanDijk, as well as returning SBC Defensive Player of the Year Cierra Johnson, came from the last class that earned the top league mark.

Here's a look at this year's signing class and their accomplishments in their final high school season.

Clair Chastain | Shawnee, Okla. | Dale High School
Ending her season in the 2A Area round in Oklahoma, Chastain was selected to the Small East All-State squad . The guard went over the 1000-point plateau in December and reached the Oklahoma State Tournament three times at Dale HS.

Misty Dossey | Comanche, Okla. | Comanche High School
Named to the 2018 All-State Small East Squad, Dossey reached the 3A Oklahoma State Semifinals. Dossey was a Vype Oklahoma Southwest Player of the Year nominee and OK Preps Player of the Year Nominee in her career. Dossey posted a 20-point, 11-rebound game in the semifinals, knocking down 7-of-8 attempts and all but one of her seven attempts at the charity stripe. She helped Comanche to a 27-3 record in her senior season.

Emma Halverson | Plano, Texas | Plano High School
Halverson helped lead Plano High School to its first-ever Texas State Title in her senior season, topping top-ranked Duncanville in the Region Final to reach the state tournament for the first time since 2000, and only the second time in program history.

Camryn Hawkins | Albuquerque, N.M. | Rio Rancho HS
Hawkins guided Rio Rancho High School to a 6A New Mexico State Semifinal appearance in her campaign, scoring eight in the matchup against one of the top-ranked teams in the state. The shooting guard was the 2017 District Player of the Year, as well as an all-district selection.

Terryn Milton | Owasso, Okla. | Owasso High School
Milton captured the team's first 6A Oklahoma State championship in 28 years as the point guard was named the 6A State Tournament MVP and a member of the All-State Large East team. She was The Oklahoman's Super 5 Player of the Year after averaging a team-high 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
