Rudewick announces new training staff

ARLINGTON, Texas - As UT Arlington continues to compete at the highest left on the field, court and track, they will be in great hands with the UTA Arlington Athletic Training Staff as Roy Rudewick, Associate AD for Sports Medicine, announced additions to his team heading into the 2018-19 academic calendar.

Four additions join a strong training staff under Rudewick's direction as Wil Hodnett (women's basketball), Jarod Lenahan (baseball), Carly Hamann (cross country/track and field) and Chris Marrs (men's basketball) join the Maverick family.

"I am very excited to be able to hire a quality group of young professionals," Rudewick said. "We seem to be gelling very well as a team to continue the standard of providing the best medical services to our athletes at UTA."

Hodnett joins UTA after serving as an athletic trainer at UTEP. Hodnett is a graduate of West Texas A&M in 2015 with a degree in Athletic Training, earning his Master's Degree in Leadership Studies from UTEP in 2017. He served as a graduate assistant for the Miners, working with football and women's golf until earning a full-time nod in 2016 to take over the health care of the women's basketball program. 

Lenahan has been entrenched in high-level competition since graduating with hig Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training in 2015 from the University of Alabama. He served as an intern with the football program at Samford University in the 2015 season and then was a graduate assistant trainer at Memphis from 2016 to 2018 where he worked with football and baseball. Graduating with his Master's of Science in Sport Commerce in May, he accepted the full-time role at UTA at the start of August. Lenahan, from Winfield, Ala., has worked with USA Baseball in providing medical coverage for the National Team Championships in Florida and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and and Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association. 

Marrs is a product of both Illinois College and Texas Tech, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology with Exercise Science in 2014 before heading to Texas Tech as a graduate assistant with the men's basketball program, earning his Master's of Athletic Training in 2017. Marrs has served as a graduate assistant for Covenant Health in Lubbock in 2016, as a summer athletic training intern for the National Football League's Oakland Raiders in 2016 and served most recently as the Assistant Trainer for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. wi

Hamann comes to UTA from Iowa State where she worked as a Track and Field Graduate Assistant. 

The 2018-19 athletic calendar opens on Friday, Aug. 24 when UTA volleyball travels to Arizona State for a three-match tournament. Both women's golf and volleyball will be in action the next weekend, volleyball celebrating its home opener on Aug. 31 against Air Force at College Park Center.
