Lady Mavs pick up transfer Bre Wickware from Indiana

ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington women's basketball coach Krista Gerlich announced the addition of Bre Wickware to her Lady Maverick roster. The Indiana University transfer will join the program this season, red-shirting and taking the floor in the 2019-20 campaign.

Wickware, a three-star recruit on ESPN and JumpOffPlus out of Denton Guyer High School, joins UTA after playing two seasons for the Hoosiers, making 64 appearances off the bench and averaging 1.2 points per game.

"Bre is an excellent addition to our Lady Mav team," Gerlich said. "We are excited she has chosen UTA as her new home. She embodies everything we want in a Lady Maverick. She's an athletic three or four player who will be able to defend stretch fours and bigger three players. She will help us in rebounding the basketball and also can really run the floor. She has a very high ceiling and incredible work ethic. She is going to be fun to coach. Bre is an excellent student and should graduate early and begin on her masters. We got better with the addition of Bre to our team."

At Guyer High School, Wickware was named a first team all-District 6-5A selection helping her team to a district title. In her junior season, she averaged a double-double with 15.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She was named the District 5-AAAA Newcomer of the Year in her freshman season, playing with the DFW Elite T-Jack for her AAU experience.

She averaged 7.2 minutes per game as a sophomore at Indiana. She had a season-high nine against SBC foe Arkansas State, while also picking up action in the WNIT in the postseason. In her freshman season, she played in 32 of the 34 games, picking up 54 overall rebounds and had a season-high of six scored against No. 3 Maryland.
