ARLINGTON, Texas - College Park Center took center stage on the WBCA Coaches' Classroom regional tour as the Whiteboard Series featured Lady Maverick coach
Krista Gerlich and a crowd of local high school, junior college and college coaches on Wednesday.
The speaker series, featuring five speakers that offered their coaching style and spoke about their philosophy, was free and a part of a five-part national tour.
"It was a great turnout," Gerlich said. "We had some great speakers and it was a great day to talk basketball. We were able to have (Dallas Wing's coach) Fred Williams come out and speak, and it was game day for him, so that was huge that he took time out a busy schedule to come and share. For him to just talk to us on the WNBA level was excellent. We were able to see some of the drills that they do, and it reinforced that you really do it at every level. It was just a great day and I am so thankful for those speakers that wanted to share their knowledge and grow the game."
Dallas Wings coach Fred Williams opened things up by showing the attendees some of his practice drills and spoke about what they journey was like for him and what it takes to coach at his level. Also in attendance and speaking to the crowd was UTEP head coach Kevin Baker, Texas A&M assistant Bob Starkey and Duncanville High School head coach Cathy Self-Morgan.
After the training was over, attendees were invited to take in the Dallas Wing's game.
