ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The UT Arlington men's golf team wrapped up New Mexico's William H. Tucker Intercollegiate on Saturday in a tie for 11th place at The Championship Golf Course.
The Mavericks bounced back from rounds of 300 and 303 on Friday with a closing 293 on Saturday to finish tied with Denver for an 896 total. BYU won the 17-team tournament with an 848 total, closing the three rounds two shots ahead of UNLV (850).
Freshman
Kyle Cox led the Mavs with 220 total (74-74-72), while
Paul Gonzalez was one shot behind at 221 (75-76-70).
Caleb Hicks was just two shots off Gonzalez's pace with a 223 (75-74-74). Rounding out the UTA scoring for the event was
Tanner Gore with rounds of 76-79-77 (232) and
Jacob Massengale 76-86-77 (239).
The Mavericks return to Texas for UNT's Maridoe Intercollegiate in Carrollton Oct. 6-8.
