Men’s Tennis Resumes Spring Schedule, Women Ready For First Serve

ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington men's tennis team continues its spring season this weekend when the Mavericks head to Houston to face Rice on Friday at 3 p.m. before returning to campus to prepare for their home opener on Sunday at 11 a.m. by welcoming Prairie View A&M and UT Permian Basin to the UTA Tennis Center.

Once the men are done at the UTA Tennis Center, later on Sunday afternoon the women will begin their spring season by facing UT Permian Basin at 3 p.m. Admission is free for all matches.

The UTA men – coming off a stern opening match at #11 Baylor on Saturday – have never defeated Rice, but are 2-0 all-time against Prairie View A&M, including a 5-0 victory in the 2017 season. The contest with Division-II UT Permian Basin will be the first-ever meeting between the schools in tennis – both on the men's and women's side.

Rice is 2-0 on the year following a pair of 7-0 victories this past Sunday at home over Incarnate Word and Prairie View A&M (0-4). The Owls are led by Conrad Russell, who sits just outside the top-100 in the nation as he's ranked #111 by the ITA.
