Mav Madness At Brazos Park Tomorrow!

ARLINGTON – In advance of highly-anticipated seasons in which both the UT Arlington men's and women's basketball teams are expected to compete for Sun Belt Conference championships, Maverick fans will have their first chance to meet and interact with the 2019-20 squads during Mav Madness tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 17.

Presented by Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar, Mav Madness is the official tip-off event for the upcoming seasons and will take place at the brand-new Brazos Park on campus from 7-9 p.m. Free food will begin at 7 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, and parking is free and available in the Park South Garage with overflow parking in Park Central (detailed map/walkway to Brazos Park included at the end of this release).

The event – similar in nature to last year's 'Meet The Mavs' on Moritz Plaza outside of the College Park Center – is free to attend, and fans will be treated to live music, free food, giveaways and other terrific prizes all while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow Mavs as anticipation builds for the start of the men's and women's basketball seasons.

Fans will have the opportunity to shoot around with both teams while wearing Mav Madness-branded T-shirts which will be distributed for free courtesy of UTA Athletics. Kids can enjoy inflatable games such as pop-a-shot, Velcro wall, bungee run and more.

The Voice of the Mavericks Josh Sours will serve as the event's emcee, and fans will be introduced to each team member, hear from head coaches Chris Ogden and Krista Gerlich and be treated to performances from the Maverick Dance Team, DJ Moxie and local cover band The Texas Cartel.

While all of that is transpiring, fans can enjoy free food from expected vendors Fuzzy's Taco Shop, Walk-On's, and BurgerIM. Free popcorn and cotton candy will also be available throughout the event. Drinks will be provided by Pepsi, and attendees are encouraged to visit the Pepsi activation area by the Brazos Park stage to take part in interactive games and sample the new Gatorade Bolt 24 hydration drink.

A plethora of great prizes awaits attendees as well by visiting the UTA Athletics marketing tent, highlighted by two exclusive VIP road trips (one to a road game with the men's team; one to a road game with the women's team) for the winners and a guest. Additional prizes include a 55-inch TV, Beats By Dre headphones and more.

Additionally, a selfie station will be available for fans to take photos with members of the men's and women's teams, including coaches Ogden and Gerlich. Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase discounted merchandise as part of a UTA team gear sale.

Brazos Park opened in August in conjunction with the beginning of the new school year. A green space in the heart of campus next to the University Center, Brazos Park features an open-air amphitheater and serves as an ideal spot to bring the campus community and general fans and donors together.

Maverick Club donors interested in attending Mav Madness should have received email communication separately. A special Maverick Club reception will take place in a reserved area of Brazos Park in conjunction with Mav Madness, beginning at 6 p.m. For additional information and to RSVP, please contact Assistant AD for Maverick Club Alex Ware at (817) 272-9613 or alex.ware@uta.edu.
