KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | GRAMBLING
- The Tigers have played some big time opponents so far this season. Three of their four opponents are in Power 5 conferences (Baylor, Florida, Georgia Tech).
- Grambling State, selected to finish sixth in the SWAC's preseason poll, returns seven from last season's squad that finished 16-16 (12-6 in the SWAC). The Tigers lost prolific guard Shakyla Hill to graduation. Hill burst onto the national scene by recording two quadruple-doubles, an achievement that hadn't been accomplished in 25 years in women's basketball. Hill's name was in the conversation for the WNBA Draft but she went undrafted and now plays with ZKK Kraljevo in Serbia.
- Baton Rouge native Justice Coleman is Grambling's leading returning scorer after recording 6.4 points per game as a sophomore. Grambling is under the direction of third-year head coach Freddie Murray. Murray guided the team to a victory over SEC foe Ole Miss in the 2016-17 NIT and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2017-18.
WITH A WIN
With a win at Grambling, the Lady Mavs will start the season 3-0 for the 3rd time in 7 seasons under head coach
Krista Gerlich. UTA also went 3-0 to start the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
UP NEXT
UTA will continue their road trip with a matchup at Kansas State, before competing in three neutral site games (vs. #9 Louisville, vs. #1 Oregon, vs. Oklahoma State) in the Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam (Nov. 28-30).

Benson registered 14 double-doubles on the season (27 career double-doubles), scored in double-figures in 21 games and led the team in scoring, field goal attempts, free-throw attempts and made, rebounds, steals and blocked shots.
