Evans Ties Career-High In Loss To Oklahoma St. At Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands – Aysia Evans tied her career-high with 19 points as the UTA women's basketball team fell to Oklahoma State on Day 3 of the 2019 Paradise Jam on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 30) at the University of the Virgin Islands' Sports and Fitness Center.

With the loss, the Lady Mavericks fall to 4-3 on the year, while the Cowgirls improve to 6-2.

Evans was the lone Lady Mav to score in double figures as she shot 6-of-13 from the floor, 2-of-4 from long distance and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line to finish with her team-high 19 points. She also added three boards and four steals. Misty Dossey added nine points and three rebounds, while Marie Benson finished with eight points. Emma Halverson registered six points and five boards.

The Lady Mavs fell behind 15-2 early and were held without a field goal until the 3:15 mark of the first quarter. The Cowgirls held a 17-7 lead after the opening period and held UTA to 15.4 percent.

UTA clawed their way back into the game and thanks to some big baskets from Evans and cut the Okla. State lead down to two points (38-36) after three quarters.
The Cowgirls would go on to outscore the Lady Mavs 22-11 in the final period to pick up the 60-47 win.

The Lady Mavericks will travel back to Arlington tomorrow and will be back in action at home on December 4 when they welcome Wright State to College Park Center.Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
