ARLINGTON, Texas – The UTA women's basketball team received 14 votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll that was released on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
This marks the fifth straight week that the Lady Mavericks have received votes in the Mid-Major Poll. UTA is one of three Sun Belt Conference schools to appear in the Mid-Major Poll along with Troy (RV, 10) and Little Rock (RV; 7).
Gonzaga moved into the top spot in the poll with 17 first-place votes and 746 points, while South Dakota State moved up two spots into the No. 2 position. FGCU (723 points), South Dakota (671 points) and Drake (639 points) rounded out the top-five.
The Lady Mavericks return to the court Thursday (Feb. 28) and Saturday (March 2) for the final regular season home games of the season. UTA will face South Alabama on Thursday (7 p.m.), before battling Troy on Senior Day (Saturday; 2 p.m.).
The CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top-25 is now in its ninth season of existence. The poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, Western Athletic and is voted on by a panel of 31 coaches.
