Henry Takes Second In High Jump, Haynes Is Eighth In 100 Meters

UTA alum Cordero Gray wins men’s 100m invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – Two current UTA senior and one track alumnus had standout performances Saturday to close out the Mavericks' stay at the 92nd Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

After competing in the heptathlon earlier this week, senior Alexus Henry finished tied for second place in the high jump at Mike A. Myers Stadium. She was the runner up thanks to a clearance of 5-9 3/4 (1.77m).

Fellow senior Deontre Haynes placed eighth in the finals of the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.33. On Friday, he set a personal best with clocking of 10.30.

In addition, Cordero Gray, a 2011 UTA alum and two-time All-American, won the men's 100m invitational race with a time of 10.11. Gray was the runner up in the 60m at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships last month.

The men's 4x100m team, which placed 11th in the first round on Friday, took seventh in the invitational race with a time of 40.75.

The men's 4x400m squad did not finish the race after entering the final with the top mark in qualifying (3:08.96).

UTA will return to action next Saturday at the North Texas Invitational.
