BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – UTA senior Alexus Henry achieved her second consecutive top-10 finish in the high jump at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. Henry finished in a share of ninth place, a one-spot improvement from her standing at the 2018 indoor meet.
Henry will earn second-team All-America honors for the second straight indoor season. She also has first-team All-America accolades on her resume by virtue of winning the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships title.
Henry cleared the first two bars (5-7 ¼ and 5-9 ¼) without a miss, but was unable to clear the third height (5-11 ¼) on her three attempts. As a result, she landed in a four-way tie for ninth among the 16 competitors.
The winning height of 6-1 ½ came from Zarriea Willis of Texas Tech. Henry's season included three high jump victories, including her first Sun Belt Conference indoor title in the event.
UTA will begin its outdoor season next Saturday (March 16) at the TCU Invitational.
