Box Score DALLAS, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team (12-7) gutted out win over Southern Methodist University on Wednesday, defeating the Mustangs 4-3 at the SMU Tennis Complex.
 
The Mustangs jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point, but that didn't sway the Mavericks.  Guanarteme Nuez and Mauricio Rio fell 6-2 to Tomas Vaise and Jan-Simon Vrbsky in No. 1 doubles.  UTA evened things out as Miguel Cabrera and Alejandro Hayen defeated Michael Smith and Andrew Buhelos 6-2 in the No. 3 slot, but the Mustangs captured the point with a 6-4 win over Enrique Pardo and Eduard Simo.
 
Pardo bounced back quickly from his doubles loss, taking the No. 1 singles competition over #69 Carles Sarrio 6-3, 6-4. Miguel Cabrera put the Mavs on top with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 5 Competition, while Jakub Grzegorczyk put the Mavs just one point away from victory with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win in the No. 6 slot.
 
Alejandro Hayen captured the win for the Mavericks with a gutsy performance in the No. 4 compeition, winning 7-6(11-9), 7-6(7-3).  Mauricio Rio fell in No. 3 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), while #103 Nuez lost the No. 2 competition 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
