DALLAS, Texas – An early deficit was too much to overcome for the UT Arlington baseball team, falling to No. 23 Dallas Baptist at Horner field 4-0 on Tuesday evening.

Riley Bost (0-1) got the start on the mound for the Mavericks. The sophomore lasted 3.2 innings and gave up two runs off six hits.  Michael Wong replaced Bost in the fourth, going 2.1 innings.
Wong gave up two runs on three hits before being replaced by Dylan Paul in the seventh. Paul lasted just two outs before Tanner King for an inning.  Brennan Smith finished the final out of the game for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks came away with seven hits on the day, but were unable to score any runs.  Matt Cavanagh and Connor Aube led UTA, each going 2-for-3 on the day.  Zac Cook, Andrew Keefer and Phillip Childs each finished with one hit.

The Patriots jumped on Bost to start the game, beginning with back-back-back doubles from the first two batters to take a one run lead. Andres Sosa flied out to center field two batters later to push home another run on a sacrifice fly.

With two outs in the second inning, the Mavericks started to get some pressure on DBU.  Andrew Keefer, Aube and Cavanagh loaded the bases, but a strikeout ended the inning and the UTA threat.

DBU loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth inning.  With two outs, the Mavs turned to Wong, who got the force out at home to escape the inning without any scoring.

Two close calls at first base in the sixth inning put runners on the corners for the Patriots with just one out. A wild pitch advanced the runner on first base to second.  A line drive single to center field scored both runs as the Patriot lead extended to 4-0.

UTA will head to Nacogdoches this Friday through Sunday to participate in the SFA Tournament.  They will take on Southern Illinois Edwardsville and SFA at the tournament.
