FORT WORTH, Texas – For a second straight week the UT Arlington baseball team (9-3) has defeated the No. 18 team in the country, this time taking down Texas Christian at Lupton Stadium 6-4 in twelve innings on Tuesday night.

Darin Thomas. "Really proud of the way our team hung in there in such a tough environment."
After allowing four runs in the first two innings, the Maverick bullpen kept the Frogs off the scoreboard for the remaining ten innings.
Wyatt Divis (4.0 IP),
Tanner King (2.2 IP)
Cesar Gomez (1.0 IP) and
Logan Austin (W, 1-0; 3.0 IP) came out of the bullpen to allow the Mavs a chance to complete the comeback.
The Mavericks finished with 13 hits on the night, led by
Andrew Miller (3-for-5) and
Josh Minjarez (3-for-6). Miller hit a solo home run in the 8
th inning that sparked the comeback.
Connor Aube went 1-for-5 at the plate, but his one hit was a two-RBI double that drove in the game-winning runs in the 12
th inning.
The Mavericks threatened out of the gate, putting runners on first and second.
Zac Cook came away with the first stolen base of the season for the Mavericks in the first inning. UTA was unable to come away with a score, stranding the runners on first and second.
With runners on first and second, the Frogs scored the first run of the game with a hopper past first base from Gene Wood.
The Frogs kept the scoring going in the bottom of the second inning. After loading the bases, Gray Rodgers walked to score the second run of the game before Wood came away with a single to center field to score two runs and give TCU a four-run lead. Those would be the last runs score by TCU in the ballgame.
The Mavericks got on the board in the third inning with a two-out rally. Cook used a seven-pitch at bat to get the base on balls before Miller found the gap in right field for an RBI double.
Anthony Dominguez hit a ball to deep center field, but a leaping grab at the fence kept any runs from scoring to keep the score 4-1.
UTA gained some momentum in the top of the 8
th inning, tying the game at four. Miller led off with a one-pitch home run to left field, while
Anthony Dominguez reach second base on an error by the left fielder.
Phillip Childs followed with a single to push Dominguez to third before Minjarez drove in Dominguez to make it a one-run game. Two batters later,
Tyler Rice tied the game with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Mavericks had a chance in the 11
th inning, loading the bases off two singles and a walk. However, with two outs, a strikeout ended the threat and the inning.
UTA made sure not to waste their opportunity in the 12
th inning. With runners on first and second with two outs, Aube connected on a ball to right-center that went under the glove of the diving center fielder to score two runs and give the Mavs their first lead of the day, 6-4.
Austin threw a nine-pitch inning in the bottom of the 12
th, forcing two ground outs and a fly out to end the game and give the Mavericks the win.
This marks the first time since 2011-12 that the Mavericks defeated TCU in back-to-back games, having also won their last game a season ago.
The Mavericks will be back at Clay Gould Ballpark for a weekend series against UTSA beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday (March 6).
