SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The UT Arlington men's tennis team (6-3) swept the Sacramento State Hornets on Wednesday afternoon 7-0 to begin their California trip.
The Mavericks earned the doubles point after winning two of the three doubles matches.
Alan Sau Franco and
Eduard Simo fell on Court Two 6-3, but the momentum quickly turned in favor of UTA.Â
Alejandro Hayen and
Miguel Cabrera took the No. 1 position 6-4, while Diachi Akiyoshi and
Angel Diaz won on Court Three 6-4.
Cabrera continued the momentum with a 6-3, 6-0 win on Court Three, while Sau Franco followed on Court four 6-2, 6-2. Simo secured the win for the Mavericks with a 6-3, 6-3 win on Court Five. Akiyoshi (Court Six) and Hayen (Court Two) each won their matched in consecutive sets. Newly ranked
Angel Diaz was the lone Maverick to go three sets, winning 7-6, 0-6, 10-3 on Court One.
The Mavericks will participate in the Golden State Invitational beginning Friday with a match against UC Davis.
