Foley, Ala. – The UT Arlington volleyball team's season came to an end in the Sun Belt Tournament semifinals on Saturday night, falling to South Alabama 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 8-25). The Mavericks end the season 12-15 overall and 9-7 in the Sun Belt.

Brooke Townsend was the lone Maverick in double-digit kills, leading UTA with 10.  Briana Brown and Brianna Ford each finished with nine kills.  Mollie Blank paced the Mavs with 24 assists, while Kylee Kapp added 14.

Alli Wells finished with 15 digs on the night, leading the Mavericks with the effort. Kainah Williams led UTA with four blocks, while Briana Brown (3), Brianna Ford (3) and Monica LaFleur (3) each finished with multi-block performances.

SET 1 | UTA 25, USA 22 | UTA LEADS 1-0
It was all Mavericks in the first set, who took the first point and never looked back. Brooke Townsend finished with six kills in the first set. Leading 16-14, a kill from Townsend sparked a 4-0 run to put the Mavericks up six points. A late run from the Jags threatened the Mavs, but Nya Blair put the final point away to pick up the set.

SET 2 | UTA 19, USA 25 | MATCH TIED 1-1
The score was tight until late in the set. With the teams even at 17, the Jaguars used a 6-0 run to take a commanding 23-17 lead. The teams traded points, but the late South Alabama surge was enough to even up the match.

SET 3 | UTA 21, USA 25 | USA LEADS 2-1
Another tight set ensued in the third. It wasn't until the 20-20 mark that the Jaguars used a 4-0 run, and force two Maverick timeouts, that either team had larger than a two-point lead. Briana Brown put an end to the run but a Jaguar kill one point later ended the set.

SET 4 | UTA 8, USA 25 | USA WINS 3-1
With the Jags leading 4-2 early on, South Alabama just an 8-0 run to take a commanding lead (12-2). A service error ended the run but the momentum wasn't stopped, ending the set on a 12-5 run to take the set and the match.
