DENTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team (3-15) came up short at North Texas (13-6) by just one run. After an on-going battle throughout the contest, the Mavericks were unable to get anything going in their last at-bats and fell to the Mean Green, 4-5.

KJ Murphy notched two hits in her four at-bats and recorded one RBI. Murphy continues to lead the Mavericks with a .340 batting average on the season. Sophomore center fielder
Reagan Hukill tallied two RBI's in the contest with a double to right center.

Kenedy Hines got her seventh start of the season on the mound for the Mavericks and threw 1.2 innings allowing four runs. Junior
Laura Henriksen replaced Hines on the mound and went on to throw 3.2 innings allowing one run off two hits.
Allie Gardiner made an appearance in the sixth inning for the Mavs and faced just one batter. UTA was unable to plate anymore runs across falling to North Texas 4-5 giving Hines the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY
- After a scoreless first inning, North Texas scored four runs in the second inning off a couple of UTA errors to grab an early 4-0 lead.
- UTA answered back from an RBI-single courtesy of KJ Murphy which cut the deficit down to three in the top of the third.
- Sophomore Reagan Hukill knocked in two runs with a double to right center to make it a 3-4 game until the Mean Green plated one more run across making it a 3-5 game.
- With the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning, shortstop Emily Evans reached on an error that scored one for UTA making it a one-run contest.
- The Mavericks couldn't find a way to scratch, falling to UNT 4-5.

The Mavericks will continue Sun Belt Conference play and welcome No. 15 Louisiana to Allan Saxe Field for a three-game series beginning Friday (Mar. 19) with the first pitch at 7:30 p.m.
