ARLINGTON, Texas – Despite a fourth inning rally, the UT Arlington softball team came up short 9-6 in game one against No. 15 Louisiana.
UTA plated five runs across throughout the game off three Cajun errors and wild pitches before catcher
Sophie Wideman's two-out RBI scored senior third baseman
KJ Murphy for the Mavericks' sixth run.

Junior
Laura Henriksen got her fourth start on the mound for the Mavericks and threw three innings allowing four runs off six hits. The California native was replaced by freshman
Gracie Bumpurs who went on to face just eight batters and allowed three runs.
Allie Gardiner made an appearance in the fifth inning to throw the remainder of the game and allowed just two runs across 11 batters.
The Mavericks couldn't find a way to scratch giving Henriksen the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY
- Louisiana grabbed an early 3-0 lead in their first at-bats from a base-hit and a two-run home run before they scratched one more off a solo home run.
- UTA stranded four runners on the bases over the course of the first three innings and were unable to plate any across.
- The Cajuns tallied three more runs to extend their lead 7-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
- After a pair Louisiana errors and wild pitches, UTA plated Emily Evans, Carreon and Reagan Hukill across to cut the deficit down to 4.
- To keep the fourth inning rally going, junior catcher Wideman notched a 2-out RBI-double that scored Murphy.
- Madison Miller got things started with a lead-off single – her second lead-off hit of the contest – who then was pinch-ran for by senior Amber Langston. A wild pitch allowed Langston to score to make it a one-run ball game.
- Louisiana's Alissa Dalton notched her second home run of the game to extend their lead 9-6 in the top of the sixth.
- UTA was unable to score in their last at-bats with the bases loaded.
