ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team picked up a big win Saturday afternoon in the game two against No. 15 Louisiana, 8-3.
Along with stellar performances in the circle and on the field, the Mavericks recorded nine hits on the day which led to their first victory in Sun Belt Conference competition and their fourth win overall.
" Today was a day when everything came together," said Brun. " Pitching, defense, offense, aggressive base running and it was a great day for Maverick softball."

Reagan Hukill recorded one.
Senior Jojo Valencia got her fifth start on the mound for the Mavericks and threw 3.2 innings allowing three runs off five hits. Junior
Allie Gardiner took over for Valencia in the circle and threw the remainder of the game allowing two hits over 15 batters.
With the outstanding performances on the mound, UTA went on to defeat No. 15 Louisiana, 8-3, giving Gardiner the win.
PLAY BY PLAY
- Louisiana grabbed an early 1-0 lead in their first at-bats from a couple of base-hits.
- UTA quickly answered back with two runs in the first to take the lead courtesy of three base-hits from Erickson, Murphy and Ogle.
- After keeping the Cajuns off the board in the top of the second, the Mavericks tallied five more runs to give them a 7-1 lead.
- Louisiana sparked two more runs to cut the deficit down to four in the bottom of the third.
- Murphy notched an RBI-double to right center that scored Erickson from first base to extend their lead 8-3 to end the fifth inning.

Allie Gardiner kept the Cajuns off the board for the last two innings giving UTA the win.

The Mavericks will wrap up its three-game series against the Cajuns Sunday (Mar. 21) with the first pitch scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
