AUSTIN, Texas – A fifth inning rally with back-to-back home runs from seniors
Madison Miller and
Aileen Garcia contributed to the 8-run inning lifting the Mavericks to a 12-1 run-rule victory over UTSA Friday night.

The Mavericks had an impressive 13 hits and 12 runs over the course of five innings as eight of those runs were scored in the fifth inning.
Senior third baseman
KJ Murphy led UTA at the plate finishing 3-4 on the night while sophomore pitcher
Kenedy Hines and senior
Madison Miller notched two hits.
First baseman
Aileen Garcia launched her second home run of the year joined by Miller who recorded her fourth.
Spring, Texas native Hines got the start in the circle for the Mavericks and had an outstanding five-inning performance on the mound limiting the Roadrunners to just one run off four hits, earning the win.
PLAY BY PLAY
- UTA wasted no time in plating runs in their first at-bats as back-to-back singles from Murphy and Miller scored two runs before Evans hit a sacrifice fly to center to scratch one more to take the lead 3-0.
- Third baseman Murphy knocked in Hines with an RBI- single to right field to extend the Mavs' lead 4-0 heading into the third inning.
- The Roadrunners scratched one run in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run to score their first run of the game.
- Sophomore Hines kept UTSA off the board for the remainder of the game as the Mavericks kept their momentum going into the fifth inning.
- Eight runs were scored off five hits in the fifth inning courtesy of a pair of home runs from Miller and Garcia as well as a couple of UTSA errors.
- UTA came out on top as they defeated the Roadrunners 12-1 in five innings.

The Mavericks will open Saturday play with an 11:00 a.m. start against No. 10 Texas followed by a 4:00 p.m. contest versus South Dakota.
