SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team split a double header against the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday. UTSA took game one 3-0, while the Mavericks won game two 2-1. UTA moves to 5-4 overall and the Roadrunners fall to 4-2.
GAME ONE | UTSA WINS 3-0
Kody Bullard (L, 2-1) started for the Mavs, tossing a complete game in the loss. After a tough first inning where two earned runs scored, Bullard settled in and allowed just one hit over the next five innings, before allowing an additional run in the sixth.
It was another tough game at the plate for the Mavericks, finishing with five hits on the day.
Josh Minjarez led the Mavericks with two hits.

Andrew Miller and
Tommy Williams each finished with one hit. The Mavericks had just six baserunners during the game, while striking out nine times.
The first four Roadrunners reached to begin the game to open up a 2-0 lead over the Mavericks. With runners on first and second and no outs, Bullard forced UTSA into a double play before striking out the final batter to escape the inning.
The score remained the same until the sixth inning. The first two batters reached base, before back-to-back fly balls to left field allowed one run to score and make the game 3-0.
The Mavericks were unable to threaten, falling to the Roadrunners by three runs.
GAME TWO | UTA WINS 2-1
David Moffat earned the start in game two, tossing 5.0 innings, while allowing one run off eight hits.
Tanner King (W, 1-0) pitched in relief, allowing just one hit in 3.0 innings.
Michael Wong earned his second save, pitching the final inning in nearly perfect fashion by putting the Roadrunners down in order on just six pitches.
The Mavericks finished with seven hits in the game.
Boone Montgomery went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double.
Dylan Paul finished with two hits and one RBI.
Connor Aube finished with one hit – the go-ahead home run in the eighth inning.
The Roadrunners offense put up one run in the second inning. After a ground out to lead off the inning, UTSA used a single and a double to get on the board.
Following twenty consecutive scoreless innings for the Mavericks, they finally ended the streak in the sixth inning. Following back-to-back walks,
Dylan Paul tied the game with an RBI single up the middle of the field to score Aube from second base.
Two innings later in the eighth, Aube connected on his first home run since the 2019 season to give the Mavericks their first lead of the day, 2-1.
Wong took over in the ninth inning and put the Roadrunners down in order to pick up the save get the Mavericks the win.
The Mavs will look to even up the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.
