Softball Suffers 12-0 Loss to No. 7 Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team suffered a tough 12-0 loss Wednesday night to No. 7 Texas in five innings at Allan Saxe Field.

UTA recorded four hits over the five-inning game as Jadyn Erickson, Aileen Garcia, Reagan Hukill and Jessica Carreon all notched one hit.

Head coach Peejay Brun utilized three pitchers in the contest as Laura Henriksen got the start for the Mavs and threw 2.2 innings allowing four runs off seven hits.

Sophomore Kenedy Hines made a brief appearance in the circle facing just nine batters across 1.1 innings pitched before freshman Gracie Bumpurs replaced Hines.

Bumpurs went on to throw one inning and allowed three runs before Henriksen came back on the mound to throw the remainder of the game getting the loss.

PLAY BY PLAY
  • Texas grabbed an early 4-0 lead after two home runs and an RBI- single to center put them on the board in the second inning.
  • The Longhorns plated three more across in their next at-bats off a pair of walks and base-hits to extend their lead 7-0.
  • Base-hits from Carreon and Erickson in the third inning were UTA's first hits of the contest but UTA was unable to get any across.
  • Texas carried their momentum into the fourth and fifth inning as they plated five more runs across off two home runs to make it an 12-0 game.
  • UTA was unable to get anything going in their last at-bats falling to the Longhorns 12-0 in five innings.

The Mavericks will welcome Georgia State to Allan Saxe Field this weekend (Apr. 10-11) beginning with a doubleheader Saturday and one game Sunday.
