TROY, Ala. – The UT Arlington softball team (17-34) was eliminated from the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Friday, losing in the consolation round to host Troy (36-14), 3-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
JoJo Valencia (L, 4-8) threw a complete game for the Mavericks.  She struck out three batters and allowed three runs off seven hits.

The Maverick offense struggled for a third time in the tournament, finishing with just five hits.  Reagan Hukill finished 3-for-3 at the plate and score the lone run for the Mavs, while Kenedy Hines and KJ Murphy came away with one hit a piece for UTA.

Both teams were on their 'A' game in the circle, as opposing batters went just 5-for-32 at the plate with runners on and 3-for-20 with runners in scoring position.  The Mavericks stranded 10 runners, including bases loaded in the third.  The Trojans stranded 11 runners on base.

  • The Mavericks loaded the bases in the third inning with no outs but were unable to score any following two pop ups and a strikeout.
  • UTA tied it at one in the fifth. With runners on the corners, a double steal was pulled off to perfection to allow Reagan Hukill to score.
