STATESBORO, Ga. – The UT Arlington baseball team wrapped up their regular season on Saturday, falling to the Georgia Southern Eagles 6-3 at J.I. Clements Stadium. The Mavericks end the regular season 25-29 overall and 13-11 in the Sun Belt Conference.
Four pitchers took the mound in the loss for the Mavericks.
David Moffat (L, 4-5) started for UTA, allowing five runs in 4.0 innings pitched.
Zach Norris allowed one run in one inning.
Michael Wong (2.0 IP) and
Tanner King (1.0 IP) tossed the final three shutout innings.
UTA finished with 10 hits on the day with three Mavericks finishing with multi-hit games.
Andrew Miller led the Mavericks with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, while
Connor Aube and
Josh Minjarez both finished with two. Aube and Miller were the lone Mavericks with an RBI, both driving in one run.
The Eagles took a two-run lead in the first inning with a two-run home run to left field.
Georgia Southern kept their momentum going into the second inning. A leadoff single put the Eagles in business before another single up the middle of the infield scored the third run for Georgia Southern.
The Mavericks got on the board in the third inning, scoring two runs to cut into the Eagle lead.
Sam Gotlieb reached on a single down the right field line and
Phillip Childs walked to put runners at first and second.
Josh Minjarez hit a hard ground ball to third base to drive in one run before
Connor Aube drove in the second with a fielder's choice.
The Eagles extended their lead in the fifth inning. A leadoff double put the Eagles in business, before a single to right field scored the first run. Two batters later, Georgia Southern connected on their second two-run home run of the game.
UTA got one back in the seventh. After putting runners on first and second with back-to-back singles, Miller drove in one run with his third hit of the game.

The Mavericks await their final seeding for the Sun Belt Tournament which will begin on Tuesday, May 25 in Montgomery, Alabama at Riverwalk Stadium.
