SAN MARCOS, Texas – Despite scoring first, the UT Arlington softball team came up short 2-1 Friday night at Texas State.
The Mavericks sit on an overall record of 16-31 with a Sun Belt record of 9-13.

UTA's bats recorded five hits in today's contest where

KJ Murphy (1-2),
Aileen Garcia (1-3, 1 RBI),
Amber Langston (1-3) and
Reagan Hukill (1-3) finished with one hit a piece.
Freshman
Gracie Bumpurs got the start on the mound and threw four innings allowing two earned runs off seven hits before being replaced by right hander
Allie Gardiner.
Gardiner went on to throw the remainder of the game not allowing a single hit in her outing however, UTA could not find a way to plate any more runs across giving Bumpurs the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY
- After a walk from Jessica Carreon followed by a single from Murphy, Garcia came in clutch with an RBI-single up the middle to plate UTA's first run in their first at-bats.
- The Bobcats answered back with two runs in the third inning off an RBI-single and an infield single.
- The Mavericks notched three hits following their lone run but could not find a way to score any more across as they came up short 2-1 to Texas State.
