Grapevine Product Chevalier Signs With UTA Men’s Golf

ARLINGTON – Grapevine native Michael Chevalier will stay in the DFW metroplex as he has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the UT Arlington men's golf team next year as a freshman.

Chevalier has been the captain of the Grapevine High School golf team since 2020 and is a two-time district champion, a two-time regional qualifier as well as a regional finalist and state qualifier.

"Michael will be a huge asset to our team. He comes from a great family that has a history of golf success," stated UTA head men's golf coach Casey Devoll.

Chevalier's father, Rick, played Division-I golf for Nicholls and also UTSA. Meanwhile, his brother, Nick, is a defensive lineman for the Austin College football team.

Chevalier currently holds the Grapevine 36-hole record of 135, and his round of 67 also places him in a tie for the program's 18-hole record.

Outside of his high-school career, Chevalier has had several top finishes in some of the most prestigious Texas amateur tournaments, including a top-10 showing on the 2022 Texas Junior Amateur circuit, a 2nd-place finish at the 2022 TJGT Elites Cup with a score of 145, and a victory at the 2022 Northern Texas PGA Dallas Championship. He also represented the North Texas PGA Junior Tour at the 2022 Ben Hogan Cup.

"The way Michael carries himself on the golf course is great to see, and we can't wait to have him on the team," added Devoll.
