ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team (3-6) looks for their fourth win of the 2022 season as the Mavericks will welcome Baylor to Allan Saxe Field Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. for UTA's home opener.
 
UTA picked up its first three wins of the season at New Mexico State's Troy Cox Classic that took place last weekend (Feb. 17-19) in Las Cruces. The Mavs defeated New Mexico State (6-5), Northern Colorado (6-4) and Southeastern Louisiana (5-1).

SERIES HISTORY
Baylor leads the all-time series 27-53 against the Mavs. Heading into Tuesday's matchup, UTA has collected three notable victories against the ranked Bears. In the 2019 season, the Mavericks came out on top twice in a double-header as part in the Getterman Classic. Those wins ended with a score of 5-2 in game one and a 10-2 run-rule in the game two. In the last matchup between the two teams, the Mavericks fell to the Bears 1-6 in Waco in February of 2021.

UTA NOTES (3-6)

• The Mavericks are coming off a 3-2 weekend at New Mexico State's Troy Cox Classic (Feb. 17-19) with victories over New Mexico State, Northern Colorado and Southeastern Louisiana.
• Third baseman KJ Murphy leads the squad with a .444 average at the plate this year. Murphy finished with a .471 batting average going 8-17 over the weekend's five contests recording 6 RBI, 1 home run, 3 doubles, a .824 slugging percentage with 20 assists on the field. 
• Freshman Aaliyah White and shortstop Jadyn Erickson trailed Murphy closely with a .455 batting average at the Troy Cox Classic. Both Mavericks tabbed 5 hits while White also recorded 2 RBI.
• Transfer Jessica Adams leads the pitching staff with a 3.46 ERA with 16.1 innings and 7 strike outs coming from last weekend's tournament alone.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT- Baylor (6-2)

• Baylor sits on an overall record of 6-2 so far this season after the Bears took their first two losses of the year to No. 13 Oregon.
• Sophomore Mckenzie Wilson has played in all eight games for the Bears as she holds a team-high .500 batting average with 3 doubles, 2 triples and 9 RBI. On the base paths, Wilson is 5-5 in stolen bases.
• Catcher Sydney Collazos has a .476 average at the plate – the second highest on the team – with 10 hits on the season and 4 RBI.
• On the mound for the Bears, sophomore Dariana Orme holds a low 1.45 ERA with a 3-0 record. Orme has collected 20 strike outs across 18.2 innings pitched.

ON DECK
UTA will head to Lake Charles, Louisiana for the three-day Evangeline Bank and Trust II – formerly known as the Cowgirl Classic – beginning Feb. 25. The Mavs are set to face Memphis, Manhattan, Sam Houston and the host, McNeese. The first game is scheduled to begin Friday, Feb. 25 at 10:00 a.m. against Memphis at Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond.
