ARLINGTON, Texas – The arm of UT Arlington's
Gracie Bumpurs and the bat of
Morgan Rios led the Mavericks to a 1-0 victory over Sam Houston Wednesday at Allan Saxe Field.

The Mavericks produced three hits Wednesday afternoon as
KJ Murphy (1-3),
Courtney Ogle (1-2) and
Morgan Rios (1-2) all came away with one hit apiece. Rios launched her second home run of the season as it proved to be key in the 1-0 win over Sam Houston.
Sophomore
Gracie Bumpurs threw her first shut out of the season as the righty reached a new game-high of six strike outs. Bumpurs allowed just three hits across 26 Bearkats as she went on to improve her record to 5-4.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. Sam Houston (W, 1-0)
- After three scoreless innings, UTA got on the board with 1 from a solo home run to center field from the bat of Morgan Rios in the bottom of the fourth.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Sam Houston's Kylie Hobbs reached on a single but the Bearkats could not find a way to get her across.
- Bumpurs kept the Bearkats off the board for the entire game as she went on to record her first shutout of the season in the 1-0 victory.

UTA will welcome ULM to Allan Saxe Field for another Sun Belt series beginning Friday, April 1 with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
