ARLINGTON, Texas – It was a pitcher's duel in Arlington Tuesday night as UTA ultimately fell short to SFA with a final score for 2-0.
Despite a home run in the first inning, freshman pitcher Jessica had an otherwise solid performance on the mound as the right-hander threw a complete game against the Ladyjacks.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: vs. SFA (L, 0-2)
The Mavericks came away with just one hit against SFA's Kassidy Wilbur as UTA's offense struggled to get anything going up until the bottom of the seventh inning.
Courtney Ogle was responsible for UTA's lone hit as the graduate student knocked a single to right center after coming in to pinch-hit for
Morgan Rios.
Freshman Adams allowed just three hits over seven innings with six strike outs. Adams now 4-5, has a total of 30 strike outs on the season – most on the UTA pitching staff – with a low 3.11 ERA.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. SFA (L, 0-2)
- The Ladyjacks took an early 2-0 lead in their first at-bats as Sydnee Herbert knocked a two-run home run to center field.
- UTA's offense were quiet through the first four innings as the Mavericks had three 1-2-3 innings at the plate unable to get anything going.
- In the bottom of the seventh inning, Meagan Smith was hit-by-pitch before Ogle recorded the Mavericks' single hit of the contest.
- Aside from SFA's two runs in the first inning, both the Ladyjacks and Mavericks played the rest of the game 2-0.

UTA will welcome South Alabama for its first Sun Belt Conference series this Friday through Sunday (Mar. 11-13) at Allan Saxe Field.
