LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The UT Arlington baseball team (11-19, 4-6 SBC) came up short against Little Rock (14-12, 4-6 SBC) on Friday evening at Gary Hogan Field, losing 5-1 to the Trojans.
The Mavericks used three pitchers in the loss.
Tanner King (L, 2-3) earned the start on the mound, lasting 6.1 innings and striking out a career-high eight batters while allowing four runs.
David Moffat (0.2 IP) and
Jack Hagan (1.0 IP, 1 ER) tossed the final outs of the game.
UTA finished with eight hits in the game with
Boone Montgomery leading the way, going 3-for-4 with one run scored.
Zach Henry drove in the lone run of the day for the Mavericks.
Tanner King got off to a dominating start, striking out six of his first eight batters he faced in the Trojan lineup.
After being shut out the first two innings, the Trojans used a four-hit third inning to score two runs.
The Mavericks used back-to-back doubles from
Boone Montgomery and
Zach Henry to score one run in the sixth inning.
The Trojans added two more runs in the seventh inning to stretch the lead to three runs. A double and single scored the first run, before a bases loaded walk scored the second.
An inning later, a leadoff home run from Little Rock gave the Trojans more cushion, extending the score to 5-1.
UTA will look to even the series tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Gary Hogan Field.
