AUSTIN, Texas – The Lady Mavs are back on the road as they travel down I35 to Austin to take on the 11th ranked Texas Longhorns. This will be the first match up between the two programs since 2010.

This is the 21st time both squads have squared off, with the first match up between the two dating back to December of 1975. UTA trails the all-time series at 8-13. The Lady Mavs own a 1-8 record in Austin. The longest winning streak in the series for the Lady Mavs resides at 4 games (2/3/76 - 1/4/77) and in their last 10 matchups, UTA is 2-8. The Lady Mavs have scored 1294 points against the Longhorns, averaging 61.62 points per contest.

SCOUTING TEXAS
Texas got the season off to a good start with an 80-35 win over Southern on Wednesday. Taylor Jones (19 points and 12 rebounds) and Amina Muhammad (14 points and 14 rebounds) each registered double doubles for Texas. Rori Harmon had a complete game with eight points, nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals. The Longhorns grabbed 22 offensive rebounds and only gave up five, holding a 24-0 advantage in second chance points. UT held a 30-3 advantage in points off turnovers as they forced Southern into 22 turnovers.
THE PRICE IS WRIGHT
In her fourth season at the helm for the Lady Mavs,
Shereka Wright coached her 81st game on Friday, November 10, vs Lamar. Despite the loss, Wright holds a 47-34 overall record. Out of the 11 head coaches in program history, Wright's winning percentage of .580 tops the list.
DOUBLE THE TROUBLE
Avery Brittingham is 28th in the country and tied for first in the conference with a double double on the season. Brittingham garnered the double double in the game against Lamar, putting up 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
MAKING IT RAIN
The Lady Mavs 37.1 percentage from beyond the arc has them ranked 78th in the NCAA and second in the WAC, only behind Grand Canyon. The 6.5 three pointers per game has the Lady Mavs ranked 134 in the country and 5th in the WAC.
The Lady Mavs drained 11 three-pointers in their first contest of the 2023-24 season. They went 11-22 from beyond the arc for a .500 shooting percentage.
IT'S A BLOCK PARTY
Averaging 3.5 blocks per contest, the Lady Mavs are currently ranked 136 in the country and 4th in the WAC.
Adela Valkova has three on the young season which has her 128th in the country and 4th in the WAC. Her 1.5 blocks per game has her 120th in the NCAA and 5th in the conference.
Avery Brittingham and
Taliyah Clark each average 1 block per game for the year, which has them tied for 6th in the WAC and 226th in the NCAA.
CAREER GAME
Adela Valkova logged the most minutes in her career with 30, made her first career three-pointer, grabbed five rebounds and dished out one assist in the first game of the season against South Florida. Valkova backdoored that performance with a career high 15 points against Lamar and three blocks.
Avery Brittingham attempted two three-pointers and drained both of them, both being the most in her career.

Keiori Lee,
Hannah Humphrey and
Miraya Perkins all made their debut at the Division I level, Perkins being the only true freshman to log any minutes in the first game of the season for the Lady Mavs.
