MORAGA, Calif. – Taliyah Clark and
Hannah Humphrey combined for 40 points to lead the UT Arlington women's basketball team (1-5) past North Carolina A&T, 87-76, on Saturday afternoon from the UCU Pavilion on the campus of Saint Mary's College.
With the victory, the Lady Mavs snapped a five-game losing streak as they enter conference play, beginning with a 6 p.m. matchup at Abilene Christian on Wednesday, November 29.
Clark poured in a season-best 25 points on 8-for-11 from the field and an amazing 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. She added six rebounds and one assist and one steal. This is her second straight game scoring double-digits this season.
Humphrey had her best game in a Lady Mavs uniform, adding 15 points off the bench in 24 minutes. She went 6-for-11 from the floor and 3-for-6 from deep while adding three assists, two rebounds and two steals.
Avery Brittingham finished with another double double, her third of the season, finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She also added four assists and three steals in 35 minutes of action.
Nya Threatt matched her career high with 13 points on 3-for-9 shooting and connected on 6 of her 10 free throws. She pulled down four rebounds, dished out five assists and had one steal in 31 minutes of action.
Gia Adams tied her career high with seven assists and finished with seven points and six rebounds.
As a team, the Lady Mavs forced the Aggies into 25 turnovers while turning the ball over only 10 times themselves. UTA's bench produced 10 more points than the Aggies, 27 to 17. There were 11 lead changes and six ties throughout the game, with the Lady Mavs leading for 17 minutes and 24 seconds with their biggest lead reaching 15 in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Mavs won all but the first quarter. Clark started off the game red-hot for UTA, hitting her first two three-pointers to give the Lady Mavs their first two buckets of the game and put them up 6-2. The quarter ended with Threatt hitting two-of-three free throw attempts to put the Lady Mavs down by three, 24-21.
UTA started the second scoring the first two buckets of the quarter to go up by a point. There were six lead changes and two ties in the quarter. In the third quarter, UTA had their best scoring run of 10 where they took a six-point lead. The quarter ended on a high note thanks to a Clark put back to beat the buzzer to put UTA back up by six, 62-56.
The Lady Mavs never trailed at any point in the fourth quarter, with the closest the Aggies got was six points in the early part of the quarter.

UT Arlington returns to Texas to begin WAC play on Wednesday, November 29, as they travel to Abilene to battle Abilene Christian before returning to the College Park Center on Saturday, December 2, to host Grand Canyon.
