ABILENE, Texas – The UT Arlington women's basketball team (1-6, 0-1 WAC) was defeated 94-76 by Abilene Christian (4-2, 1-0 WAC) inside the Moody Coliseum on Wednesday night as the host Wildcats shot a blazing 18-for-35 (.514) from long distance.
The Lady Mavs were led in scoring by
Hannah Humphrey who had a career-high 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the floor and 4-for-8 from deep. She also chipped in with three steals, one assist and one rebound off the bench.
Gia Adams added 18 points on 5-for-11 shooting and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc while pulling down a rebound and dishing out two assists in 33 minutes of action.
Avery Brittingham had 15 points in 32 minutes, her seventh game finishing with double figures. She was four rebounds shy of her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with six rebounds as well as having three assists and three steals for the game.
The Lady Mavs had their best scoring first half of the season and maintained a lead for the majority of the first quarter which was as much as five points. There were six lead changes throughout the first half of play.
Coming out the locker room from halftime, the Lady Mavs held Abilene Christian to 18 points in the third quarter, the least amount of points the Wildcats scored in any quarter of the game. Despite that, UTA couldn't overcome registering eight points in the third quarter themselves.
ACU led by as many as 29 with 5:51 left in the fourth quarter when they went on a 16-0 run. The Wildcats were paced by Payton Hull who put up 31 points on 11-for-18 from the field and 6-for-11 from deep. Bella Earle registered a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

The Lady Mavs return to the College Park Center for their WAC home opener on Saturday, December 2, as they host preseason favorite Grand Canyon. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. central time.
