ARLINGTON, Texas – After opening up the season on the road against a tough South Florida team, the UT Arlington women's basketball team (0-1) return home to the College Park Center to take on former Southland Conference foe Lamar on Homecoming weekend.
The Lady Mavs boast a 37-13 record in home openers.
SERIES HISTORY
This is the 43rd time both squads have squared off, with the first match up between the two dating back to February of 1975. UTA leads the all-time series at 24-18. The Lady Mavs own a 12-5 record at home. The longest winning streak in the series for the Lady Mavs resides at 8 games (1/18/03 - 2/14/08) and in their last 10 matchups, UTA is 4-6, taking the victory in the last game played which was a season ago in Beaumont by a final score of 60-56.

SCOUTING LAMAR
Lamar is coming off a 108-34 victory over Texas College to open up their 2023-24 season. The 108 points is tied for the 10th best scoring game for the Cardinals in program history. The Cards were led by Akasha Davis who put up 24 points on 12-of-13 shooting and grabbed nine boards.
THE PRICE IS WRIGHT
In her fourth season at the helm for the Lady Mavs,
Shereka Wright coached her 80th game on Monday, November 6, at South Florida. Despite the loss, Wright holds a 47-33 overall record. Out of the 11 head coaches in program history, Wright's winning percentage of .588 tops the list.
MAKING IT RAIN
The Lady Mavs drained 11 three-pointers in their first contest of the 2023-24 season. They went 11-22 from beyond the arc for a .500 shooting percentage. As it stands, UTA is ranked ninth in the country and first in the WAC in three-point percentage. The 11 made threes have the Lady Mavs sitting 21st in the NCAA and first in the WAC.
Avery Brittingham's 100 percent from the three has her tied for first in the NCAA with 44 other players and tied for first in the WAC with Utah Valley's Kaylee Mabry.
Taliyah Clark and
Hannah Humphrey's 66.7 percentage from the three-point line has them tied for 68th in the country and for third in the WAC. Humphrey's four made threes has her 40th in the country and second in the WAC.
ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF
In her first game donning a Lady Mavs uniform, Blinn College transfer
Hannah Humphrey made quite the first impression. She drained four three-pointers, grabbed two rebounds, had one assist and one steal and finished with 12 points coming off the bench for UTA.
Avery Brittingham and
Taliyah Clark were also impressive in their UTA debuts, with Brittingham leading the charge with 16 points and seven rebounds to pace the team while Clark's 10 points was third best for the Lady Mavs in the season opener.
CAREER GAME
In the first game of the season against South Florida, we saw several career bests including some first Division I collegiate games among the roster.
Adela Valkova logged the most minutes in her career with 30, made her first career three-pointer, grabbed five rebounds and dished out one assist.
Avery Brittingham attempted two three-pointers and drained both of them, both being the most in her career.
Kali Haizlip,
Keiori Lee,
Hannah Humphrey and
Miraya Perkins all made their debut at the Division I level, Perkins being the only true freshman to log any minutes in the first game of the season for the Lady Mavs.
HOME SWEET HOME
Sporting a 96-62 overall record at the College Park Center, the Lady Mavs seem to be at their best when playing in front of the home crowd at the CPC.
