ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington men's tennis team defeated Cameron in a 6-1 victory at the UTA Tennis Center on Saturday.
 
The Mavericks did not drop a doubles match, winning three matches to gain the early 1-0 lead. Santiago Giamichelle and Dante Teramo were the first team off, earning a decisive 6-1 win on Court 3. Court 1 followed, with Anton Shepp and Solano Caffarena beating Tomas Almeida and Thomas Cardona 6-2. With the doubles point won,  Lachlan Robertson and Joan Torres Espinosa ended on a high note, finishing with a 6-3 win on Court 2.
 
The Mavs were able to continue their success from doubles into singles play, dropping only one point to the Aggies.
 
Giamichelle dominated on Court 2 with a quick 6-1, 6-1 victory over Baptiste Mercier. Shepp scored the next point for the Mavs on Court 1, where he defeated Almeida 6-3, 6-3.
 
Teramo clinched the match for UTA on Court 6 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Alvaro Chavez. Robertson added another win with a 6-0, 7-5 victory on Court 6 after being down 2-5 in the second set.
 
The Aggies collected one point on Court 3, where Cardona defeated Caffarena 6-1, 6-4.
 
Torres Espinosa ended the day with an exciting finish on Court 4, forcing a deciding set tiebreaker. After falling 7-5 in the first set, he bounced back to win the second 6-1. He was then able to finish the match, defeating Kristian Kubik 10-6 in the tiebreaker.
 
The Mavericks will be back in action on Sunday at the UTA Tennis Center. They are set to face Collin College at 2 p.m.
