ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington men's tennis team will be back in action at the UTA Tennis Center on Saturday, where they will face UT Dallas (10 a.m.) and Trinity (2:30 p.m.) in a doubleheader.
The Mavericks are coming off two home wins over Cameron and Collin College. They defeated the Aggies 6-1 and the Cougars 7-0.
Lachlan Robertson is currently 3-2 in singles for the spring season. He has won his past three matches in straight sets, defeating opponents from UTSA, Cameron and Collin College.
Anton Shepp has been dominant on Court 1 and holds a five-match winning streak.
Joan Torres Espinosa holds the same 6-1 singles record as Shepp. He has won his past six matches for the Mavericks.
Santiago Giamichelle also holds one of the strongest singles records on the team at 5-2, defeating opponents at the No. 2 and 3 positions this season.
In doubles action, Shepp and
Solano Caffarena have seen success on Court 1, as they are currently 3-0 as a team. In the past three matches, their opponents have earned no more than two games per set, and the team has recorded one 6-0 win.
SCOUTING UTD
The Comets are 1-2 for the spring season. UTA holds a 3-0 record over UTD after their last meeting in 2013.
SCOUTING TRINITY
The Tigers hold a 3-1 record for the spring season. As of January 17, they are ranked No. 13 in the Division III ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. This will be the first meeting between the Mavericks and the Tigers.
