ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington men's tennis team (6-3) continued their winning streak after a 4-1 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi at the UTA Tennis Center on Wednesday.
 
The Mavericks added a point early on by winning two doubles matches. Santiago Giamichelle and Dante Teramo were the first team off, defeating Lucas Schurdevin and Nathan Schwartz 6-3 on Court 2.
 
Anton Shepp and Solano Caffarena remain undefeated on Court 1 and maintain a 5-0 record as a team. The duo took out the Islanders 6-4 to help clinch the 1-0 lead for the Mavs.
 
Singles play followed in a similar manner, with the Mavericks dropping only one match to the Islanders.
 
Freshman Lachlan Robertson continued to impress on Court 5, where he earned a decisive 6-2, 6-1 victory over Ulysse Bertrand. He has won his last five singles matches and holds a 5-2 record for the spring season.
 
Shepp moved to 8-1 for the season, still holding the most singles victories on the team. In his fourth match won in straight sets, he defeated Avery Zavala 6-2, 7-5 on Court 1. He has won his past seven matches and remains undefeated at home.
 
Joan Torres Espinosa lost on Court 3 in a tight deciding set. After dropping the first set 6-1, he came back to win the second 6-3. He could not overcome Schwartz in the third, with the final score 7-5.
 
In a battle on Court 4, Caffarena was able to clinch the match for the Mavericks and secure the victory. He went down one set after losing the first 6-2, then came back to take the second 7-6 in a tiebreaker. Caffarena proceeded to play a dominant deciding set, winning 6-2 over Matthieu Peres.
 
The Mavericks are set to face No. 1 ranked TCU on Friday at 5:30 p.m. on the Bartzen Varsity Courts in Fort Worth. Their next home match is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m. against Lamar.
