ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington softball team dropped its midweek meeting with No. 20 Baylor Wednesday afternoon from Allan Saxe Field, suffering a 5-0 loss.

The Mavericks pieced just two hits together against Baylor as senior
Meagan Smith (1-3) and freshman
Marley Neises (1-3) came away with one hit each.
Sophomore
Jessica Adams tossed six innings of work, allowing one earned run off seven hits across 26 batters faced.
Freshman
Tamya Waiters came in for the seventh inning and tabbed one strike out. With UTA unable to fight back, Adams received her seventh loss of the season.
PLAY BY PLAY: vs. #20 Baylor (L, 5-0)
- With a pair of UTA errors and RBI from the Bears' offense, Baylor took a early 3-0 lead in the top of the first.
- After a scoreless second and third, Baylor plated one more across off an RBI-ground out that gave them a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth.
- Baylor extended its lead to 5-0 in the top of the sixth off an RBI-double down the right field line off the bat of Emily Hott.
- The Mavs couldn't get anything going in their final at-bats, falling to the ranked Bears 5-0.
ON DECK
UTA will hit the road for its second series of conference play in Riverside, Calif. where the Mavs will face the Lancers of California Baptist beginning Friday, Mar. 24 for a three-game series.
