LAKE CHARLES, La. – The UT Arlington softball team (17-23) suffered a midweek loss at McNeese Wednesday night with a final score of 6-2 from Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond.
The Mavericks head into their conference series with the Aggies of New Mexico State this weekend with an overall record of 17-23 and a 7-8 record in WAC play.

The Mavs put up just three hits in Wednesday night's meeting with the Cowgirls as freshman
Marley Neises extends her hitting streak to 13-straight games. The outfielder led the pack going 2-3 at the plate with an RBI.
Senior
Meagan Smith was responsible for UTA's other hit after smacking a double to left center in the top of the second.
Junior
Gracie Bumpurs tossed two innings for the Mavericks, limiting McNeese's lineup to just one earned run. She faced 12 batters before sophomore
Jessica Adams came in and threw the remainder of the game. Adams logged three strike outs and one earned run off eight hits.
Unfortunately, UTA was unable to answer back, handing Bumpurs the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY: at McNeese (L, 6-2)
- After a scoreless first inning, the Cowgirls logged a three-run second inning as they scored off an RBI-single, groundout and a Maverick error.
- In the bottom of the third, McNeese went on to plate two more runs, extending its led to 5-0 off a single and a ground out.
- The Cowgirls plated one more across in the bottom of the fourth as Crislyne Moreno stole home on a first and third play.
- UTA scored its first runs of the game as an RBI-single from Neises and a McNeese error allowed for two runs to come across, cutting the deficit to four heading into the bottom of the sixth.
- The Mavericks couldn't get anything going in their last at-bats, falling to the Cowgirls 6-2.
ON DECK
From Lake Charles, UTA will travel out west to Las Cruces, New Mexico for a three-game WAC series at New Mexico State beginning with a doubleheader Friday, Apr. 21 followed by the series finale Saturday, Apr. 22.
