ARLINGTON, Texas --- Adéla Válková, a versatile 6-2 forward, has officially signed with the UT Arlington women's basketball program after spending the past four years at UTEP (2022-23) and Weatherford College (2019-22).
"Adéla comes to the Lady Mav family with a lot of international experience and size," UTA head coach
Shereka Wright said. "She is a skilled forward who can score multiple ways around the rim, and she will add another dimension to our roster offensively and defensively. Her size and experience will be very valuable to us in the WAC."
Prior to her one season at UTEP, Válková was a standout performer at Weatherford College, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I school, where she poured in 903 points, grabbed 608 rebounds and swatted 143 shots while notching 22 career double-doubles. Interestingly, in five career matchups against UTA's
Starr Jacobs (Temple College), she averaged 15.2 points and 9.6 rebounds with three double-doubles.
In 2021-22, Válková averaged 12.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, one steal and 1.9 blocks while shooting .496 percent from the field over 25 games (25 starts). She recorded a season-high 23 points against Collin County on Feb. 12 and pulled down a season-best 14 rebounds twice while producing seven double-doubles on the season and totaling 17 games with double-figure scoring, including three with at least 20.
Following the season, Válková was named First Team All-Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) and First Team All-Region V. She led the conference in rebounding and finishing ninth in scoring.
In 2020-21, Válková averaged 13.6 points, eight rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting .520 from the field over 24 games (24 starts). She poured in a career-high 28 points on 12-of-13 shooting against Cisco College (3/6) en route to nine double-doubles on the season, including a streak of seven straight from Feb. 22 to March 6.
Válková totaled 18 games with double-figure scoring, including five with at least 20, highlighted by a 17-point, season-high 18-rebound performance against Hill College on March 3. In addition to that, she blocked a season-best seven shots twice.
Following the season, Válková was named Honorable Mention All-NTJCAC.
In 2019-20, Válková averaged 8.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and one assist per game while shooting .460 from the field over 31 games (27 starts). She produced 13 games with double-figure scoring, including a season-high 18 against Ranger College on Jan. 20. She also had seven games with 10-or-more rebounds, including a season-best 18 against the Aussie Travelers on Dec. 4. Overall, she totaled six double-doubles.
A native of Šumperk, Czech Republic, Válková competed for the Czech National Team from 2016-19. She is a 2019 graduate of Sportovní gymnázium Ludvíka Daňka in Brno-Královo Pole, Czech Republic.
