HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team (25-25, 15-12 WAC) fell to the Sam Houston Bearkats (32-20, 21-6 WAC) in 7 innings on Sunday afternoon at Don Sanders Stadium, 13-3.
The Mavericks had four hits as a team, led by
Ryan Black who finished with a double and two RBIs.
Wilson Galvan finished 1-3 to extend his reached base safely streak to 37 games.
Tyson Pointer and
Tyler Rice each finished with a base hit for the game.
Cade Sumbler finished with an RBI after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Mavs used three pitchers in the effort with
Connery Peters getting the start on the mound, going 1.0 innings and giving up six runs on five hits.
Caden Noah relieved Peters and went 1.2 innings, giving up five runs, four of them earned, on four hits.
Brayden Brooks tossed the final 4.0 innings, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out two.
The Mavs loaded the bases up in the 1st inning and plated one run with Sumbler being hit by a pitch to score
Garrison Berkley. Sam Houston would go on to score six in the bottom half of the 1st, making it a 6-1 game.
UTA would score two more runs in the top of the 2nd thanks to a Black double off the center field wall to make it a 6-3 game. The Bearkats would go on to score three runs in the bottom half of the 2nd and two runs in the bottom of the 3rd, making it a 11-3 game.
In the 7th inning, Sam Houston would plate two runs to end the game.

The Mavs travel to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners on Tuesday, May 16, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
